Our Little Festive Weekend

It started with Lil G’s 1st Nativity Play on Friday afternoon. What a beautiful way to start our weekend. He did so well. Standing up on stage to say his line ‘what a beautiful baby’, word-perfect and in front of not 1, not 2 but over 50 adults is fantastic in my opinion. A very proud mummy. So proud. Watching our gorgeous boy singing along to all the nativity songs, actions included and then the Christmas Carols was just the most heart warming moment.

I can only share this one picture with you as there were of course other children in the others, themes the rules! A rather proud Lil G…

And then there was Saturday. We went off to The Winter Wonderland at the Snowdome in Tamworth. Lil G’s best buddy Freddy, along with his mummy and daddy joined us for the festive fun. The morning was full of throwing snowballs, sledging, sliding down mini slopes on rubber rings, followed by a pantomime and then a visit to see Santa’s Reindeer.

Such a fun-filled morning. The most efficiently organised event we have attended. If you are considering a visit then I would highly recommend it. Great value for money. This is our second year. Lil G was in toddler heaven!

And then there was Sunday. We had a day trip planned to Alton Towers. Last year we took part in the Santa’s Sleepover where as this year we thought we would just visit for the one day, a ‘Santa’s Lunch’. A mixture of fun on the theme park, a visit to Santa through the enchanted Christmas tree forest, a Christmas lunch and entrance to the water park.

Lil G had a super day. Exploring. The decorations. Meeting Santa. The water park. To him it was all FUN FUN FUN.

We did for the most part however Mr H and I were disappointed with a couple of things. Sadly the number of rides available was reduced considerably from last year which meant after only 2-hours on the park we were ready to make our way back to the hotel. Last year we visited the park on both days!

Visiting Santa really was magical, well actually it was the adventure to find him which was excellent. Following the Elf through the Christmas Tree Forest was so beautiful to watch. The look on Lil G’s face and his expression when we arrived at Santa’s lodge, magical. Very well organised. What was disappointing was meeting Santa. It lasted all of 30 seconds and the big fella failed to ask Lil G what he wanted from Santa for Christmas. Maybe I should have intervened. I should have prevented him from rushing us. As you can imagine Lil G was a confused as to why he hadn’t asked him, therefore we had to tell the Elf on our way out of the Forest.

Thankfully the little gift, the rides and the water park quickly distracted him and we left for home that evening as one happy little family.

  1. It looks like you had a fabulous time doing all your Christmassy things. It’s a shame that Santa didn’t ask Lil G what he wanted for Christmas and they rushed you through, sometimes big events aren’t too well organised. The sledging looks like loads of fun. Thanks for linking up with Country Kids.

  3. What a wonderful sounding festive weekend. Nativity plays are always wonderful to make you feel festive, and your shepherd looks gorgeous. The Snowdome and Alton Towers look great too – I really must go over there soon! Shame about the reduced rides, but that forest walk to Santa sounds great. #ChristmasCountdown
